CSN Stores Review

One of my new favorite go-to places to shop online is CSN Stores. I have done several giveaways for them & received some products to review, and have NEVER been disappointed! Today I am excited to share w/ you the scoop on a new blender & a DVD case I received from CSN!

Believe it or not, I am 34 years old and this is my very first blender! ~gasp~ I am super excited to try out the Oster 12-Speed Glass Jar Blender in Black. One of the things that helped me to decide which blender to choose was the reviews. CSN offers so many items to choose from, that this really comes in handy.

What I like about this blender & CSN Stores:
1. Quick shipping
2. Received emails letting me know the order was received and status updates.
3.There is a feature on the blender where it will "easy clean" for you in between batches. Love that!
4. Love that it has 12 speeds.
5. Ice crusher blade makes perfectly crushed ice!
6. 5 cup dishwasher safe ( a must for me-I don't do hand washing of the dishes!) glass jar
7. This blender is $40.99 & received 4.5 stars!

I also received a 96 disc wallet in black for all my hubbies loose DVD's.
What I like about the DVD case:
1. Not that it really matters cuz it's not something we leave out a lot, but it's a very soft black leather-type exterior & actually looks really nice.
2. Very durable hard cover! Great since my kids will be handling it as well.
3. Perfectly priced at $14.99.

Tuesday's Tip - Flashlight Tag

Congrats to #84 Pamela S, the winner of the DownEast Basics giveaway!

Tore out a little game I read about in a magazine this summer (can't remember which mag it was), and the kids love it! It's called Flashlight Tag.

You'll need: A flashlight and a big dark room.

What to do: Shine your light on a wall and ask your kid to "tag" it. Alternate between letting him hit it and jerking it away at the last second. Giggles should ensue!

Got 10 Minutes?

God is waiting for you to visit HIM. Awhile back many years ago I was taught about a 10 minute prayer time. It went something like this... spend 2 minutes in each of these areas ~reading a verse or passage from the Bible, meditating (on what you just read), seeking(listening for God to speak to you), giving thanks (for all the things God has done) and praying your request. If you're someone who doesn’t sit at the feet of Jesus often this might be something to try for say a week or so. See how it goes. You might find you are sitting longer than 10 minutes engaging with God.

I encourage you set aside time each day this week. May I suggest you read and meditate on Psalms 25. You might even want to journal a thought or two. That’s really the best way to start ,read a verse, then journal a thought about what it says to you. Then maybe journal a thought that just pops in your head. You might be surprised that those thoughts are coming from God and that’s him speaking to you.

What I like about DownEast Basics & my Floral Fantasy Tank:
1. I love that all their pieces are trendy and affordable!
2. I like that a lot of the clothing is available in different colors to choose from.
3. Site is easy to navigate.
4. I'm always leery of shopping online because I am not sure what size to order. I used their sizing chart and it was fairly accurate. It was slightly tight in the bust, but fit great every place else.

What I didn't like about DownEast Basis & the Floral Fantasy tank:
1. The piece I originally ordered I never received due to it being out of stock. I then ordered a new piece and it came fairly quickly once it did ship. I was not a paying customer, so I feel certain a paying customer would receive their product in a more timely manner. The tank was worth the wait though. :)

Baseball Memory

Recently a local christian radio station was doing a contest. They were collecting favorite baseball memory stories. The prize was lunch with the Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson. My family and I are big Braves fans and we also like Tim Hudson. I thought why not share my favorite story someone has to win. Right? I very sadly report we didn’t win but, I still think this a great story so I thought I’d share it with you this week.

Some time back this verse Act 20:24” But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” (NLT) was brought to life for me and really struck me as this is my purpose. This is what God has put me here on this earth to do. My favorite baseball story reflects this verse very well I think.

My favorite baseball memory happened this past spring baseball season. Our family has played baseball in a local church outreach Baseball Ministry for the past several years. My husband always coaches at team or two since we have 3 boys. Our oldest son who is 10 eats, sleeps, and breathes baseball. I have always laughed and said he was born with a ball in his hand.
While attending a coaches meeting my husband met a Coach who turned out to be our oldest sons coach. My husband agreed to be his assistant coach. The teams name none other than the Braves. Our son was so thrilled to be a Brave. As the season continued we got to know this coach a little better, we learned of his very rough past year and half. The more my husband talked to him, the more my husband learned the coach was searching for Christ. We later found out that while on a family vacation in May the Coach come to terms with what he needed and that was Christ and accepted HIM as his savior. The last game of the season the Coach told the team of 8 boys and 1 girl that because of all of them he was now a Christian. About a month after that he was baptized. He credits it all to his baseball team and three assistant coaches. This will be one of my favorite baseball memories for life. My family was used by God and was a small part of HIS plan to serve others and bring them to Christ.

Tuesdays' Tip-Preparing for Kindergarten

A few tips to prepare Moms & kids for Kindergarten.....

1. Start talking to your child about the big day ahead of time. Try to give them an idea of what their day will be like.

2. Attend any open house/meet the teacher events so your little one will see their classroom before the 1st day comes.

3. Let your child really explore the room, sit at a desk, locate the restrooms, etc.

4. Start stocking up on any snack items & pre-bagged stuff for lunches. Anytime our local grocery store had Buy 1 Get 1 on the pre-packaged snacks, I took advantage this summer.

5. Make a space by the door for backpacks, etc to hang.

6. Let your child take a very small toy or photo, anything to remind them Mom is thinking of them...even a little note from you...in their backpack.


Moms?

Plan ahead for what you are going to do that 1st day. I hosted a Back-To-School Brunch the 1st day of school (yesterday). We had a great time & everyone got to comfort each other, meet new Moms, & talk about how the kids...and Moms...did! :) I still have a baby at home, but some day when all 3 kids are in school, I plan to head to the spa for a massage on the 1st day of school each year!

Make It Monday-Brunch/Breakfast Foods

Today was the 1st day of school for us. I have a 2nd grader & a child going into Pre-K/ "all-day" school for the 1st time. I'm usually relieved when school starts & ready for the sibling rivalry to stop....However.......this year I was actually kinda sad. Summer went by way too fast for me. I still have the baby at home to keep me occupied, MOPS, Bible Study, & of course volunteering at the school.

I planned a Back-To-School Brunch for Moms today to come and either celebrate the freedom, or have a "Boo-hoo" breakfast. It went well & we had a great time. Lots of yummy food. So..today I wanted to share some yummy brunch/breakfast foods w/ you....

I couldn't resist sharing this recipe for homemade apple butter from Mamalicious Finds. I LOVE Apple Butter & this would be so tasty to serve w/ biscuits, crackers, cinnamon raisin toast, bagels, etc.

Morning Buns from BirthdayGirlBlog. Mmmm.....Need I say more?

When my little blueberry bush in the backyard starts giving me blueberries I'd love to try this Blueberry Crumb Cake from The Pioneer Woman....yum!!

Family Life Verse

Last week I wrote about having a personal life verse. At the end of the post I encouraged you to even think about a family life verse. That’s what I want to share this week. When my husband and I started having children we did a parenting class at our church. One of the things the couple talked about was a “family motto”. They encouraged us to look at verses that would reflect our family values and our love for God and come up with a family motto. We looked up several verse that held great value to us like:

Col. 3:23 “ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”

1 John 4:19” We love because he first loved us."


After several times of tweaking our motto this is what we came up with.

“In all that we do, we LOVE God, each other and do our best.”

After coming up with the perfect family motto I typed it up put it in a magnetic picture frame and placed it on our refrigerator. It has been there ever since and that was about 8 or 9 years ago. We see it daily and its a good reminder of what we value and are suppose to do. We are always quoting it to the boys in one way or another. For instance when they say they can’t do something we say “Yes you can, do your best.” As a mother I hope this is something that will stick with my boys for a lifetime. And maybe one day they will have their own life verse and family life verse.

I am a coupon clipper, how about you? I love to save a dollar & and our friends tease us about being "Clark Howard" when it come to saving money. (Clark is an Atlanta celeb Dave Ramsey-ish guy on the radio.) I recently was introduced to a new site called Coupon Chief to find coupons.

I am familiar w/ the grocery store coupon sites such as Coupon Mom, Grocery Game, etc. I really like Coupon Chief cuz they offer coupons to large stores that I actually would shop at! So many coupon sites have stores I've never heard of or am not interested in.

Coupon Chief is one of the fastest growing coupon sites. They have over 50k coupons for over 15000 stores! Now that's a lot of stinkin' coupons! On their home page you will find a list of popular coupons that I found to come in really handy. I am one that likes to get in & get out so if I come to a home page and have to do a lot of searching to find what I'm looking for I lose patience.
